Plumbers, how long would you wait for a plumber to arrive!?

For the third time i have taken time off work and wasted a day waiting for a plumber to arrive. The company phones me to say they'll be there in the morning then doesn't arrive - i phone them in the afternoon and they say they'll be there soon, still no luck. I am reasonable guy and understading that some jobs take longer than others, traffic etc.! I haven't harragned the company and have been pleasant. Would you ditch loyality with a company who doesn't turn up three times in a row.

  1. I agree with Dennis, In this day and age of cell phones, you should be able to be easily contacted by them, so there is no excuse for them to leave you hanging.

    No ones time is more valuable than anyone elses.


  2. No offense to any who answer, nor to you, nor to any service people but they hardly care that you rant about lost wages. What they may care more about is losing a customer; especially one who might spread any negative word about them.

       I think being civil is a more appropriate approach, and perhaps some direct connection to the owner. The owner may be unaware of the faults you explain here?

       One of, perhaps our greatest freedom, as a species, is CHOICE. You obviously have that freedom as well, and I want to assume that plumbing contractor isn't the only one local to you. I also suggest you don't strictly consider service as a bargain any longer. The global economy eats a huge percentage of any profit made by any of us in the trades.

       I think at the very least, the company may owe you an apology, but I suspect you should shop elsewhere.

I have been in you predicament in the past and I came up with this solution.  The day I scheduled to be off from work, I made appts with 3 different plumbers knowing that drastically increased my chances that one would show, the first to the job got it, now I had to turn away the other two, but didn't feel too bad about that. I was just amazed they all showed up.

  5. As a Plumber myself I find that unexcusable.If you are that busy then recommend another Plumber.The customers time is just as important as the Plumbers is.

  6. I'd be on the phone telling them you have lost 3 days wages because of them and if they don't come and do the job immediately you will sue them for compensation and go to the local papers. Sod loyalty to them, what have they done for you?

    If they don't respond to your call get someone else. 3 days is inexcusable
