Plumbers or people who no about drains?

Is it bad if you leave that drain unclogging stuff like draino in the drain for more than 30 minutes? It said to leave it in for 30 minutes and i forgot about it untill like and hour and a half later...will that ruin the drain or make poisioness gasses or anything?

What a product like Draino does, is that it helps soften up the clog... at which point you are supposed to flush the drain with fresh water to help get it moving on down the line.  The problem with letting it set for too long, is that it could solidify back up....meaning you wasted what you poured down it, and possibly made the drain blockage even worse.

SOME drain clearing products will harm pipes.  I don't believe Draino is in that class.  Some of them actually have a chemical reaction and get quite hot... possibly even melting plastic pipes, hehehe.

I would try flushing it, and if it won't drain, try the Draino one more time.....flushing the drain when suggested.  If that doesnt work, you're most likely going to have to call in a plumber to snake out the line.

Set a timer, or alarm clock, to help you remember to go flush the drain.

If your system is in good shape it's not a problem, just run the water a few minutes,check under the sink to make sure the pipes look good, no leaks etc.

Should be fine.  Do the instructions tell you to run some  water through?  You probably should do that.
