  1. Hi,

I'm in the same boat as you, I've been looking for an apprenticeship for the past 2-3 years, I have applied at big companies, small companies, up and down the country but here I am still looking after sending out hundreds of applications and attending numerous assessment days and interviews.

I am from the Manchester area myself and I know how hard it is to find someone who is willing to take on an apprentice and then when you do find someone and apply for the position, you find out that your up against hundreds of other candidates for just the one position which makes it incredibly hard, but there are still a lot of places in the Manchester area that are recruiting apprentices - these are places that I have applied to and because of this I am not going to tell you who they are because that would mean you or anybody else who reads this thread is competing for the job with me.

I have just finished completing a Technical Certificate in plumbing at College and I have found that I am much more likely to be employed with this then without.

So what I am saying to you is, yes carry on looking for an apprenticeship but just in case you don't manage to get one enrol on to a college course, this way when you apply next time you will have that little bit more and that might get you the job.

Also your age is a huge advantage, seeing as you have just left school you are probably more likely to get an apprenticeship then me, so don't leave it too late and don't give up....that is the only advise that I am willing to give at the moment.
