Plumbing and septic?

i was doing my laundry and when i went in to the bath water was coming up out and around the toilet plus the shower and sink.... is there a main blockage some where and i didn,t know that every thing drains out of one pipe?

  1. Yes, all of your sinks, tubs, washing machine have a drain line that connects to a larger drain, usually 3" or 4" in diameter. This larger line carries all the wastewater out to the septic system or sewer main.

      It sounds like the clog is in your larger line but this depends on the layout or location of all your plumbing fixtures.

    You will probably need to have your lines cleaned of debris(could be tree roots).


  2. If you have a septic tank/system, sound like it is backing inot your house. Perhaps it needs to be pumped out.

  3. For waste water to reverse and come up through the toilet and shower indicates a blockage. Call a plumber and explain what's happening.
