Plumbing help please?

Question

Our sink and laundry room drain is clogged, both on the farthest end from the drain leaving the house. The previous owners poured alot of paint down the laundry room drain. Plumbers have come and offered no other solution but to run a new pipe. Help please?

muratic acid   (sorry for the spelling) will open it up.. make sure the room is well ventilated before hand,   as it give of fumes when it's working...have eye, skin and splash protection...

pour in one litre and let it stand for several minutes.. if it starts to drain.. flush with plenty of hot water... and reapply..  and flush once more... if it doesn't drain..add one more litre and let stand longer... 99% that it will clean out.. if it does not... you will absolutly need a plumber... remember to tell him/her you've added muratic acid to the plumbing.. for his safety..!

Is there a cleanout (s***w cap in a tee) at the far end of the horizontal run of this drain pipe? If you don't have one, but have access, you could add one and snake the pipe out. This is of course assuming you have already taken apart and cleaned the traps.  Difficult to give you more ideas without the whole picture.

Look up "Roto Rooter" in the yellow pages. They can run a power snake with a cutter head on it and clear the pipe. Your plumbers are looking to make some big bucks.

if all of your other plumbing is running ok,toilets sinks ,baths etc.,you might get away with some repair to the laundry and sink only ,determine how far out you need to replace.start with the traps located under the sink and laundry drain ,it is more likely to clog there ,after that see how far you can push a sewer snake,you might push it out,if not remove the pipe if it's plastic and run a smaller pipe  through it to clear out the debris ,buy a couple of couplings and glue and do a quick repair.it may not be as bad as you think ,and it might,but i have cleared some dooseys  ,so i know it's possible..........tom

What did the camera show?  If it's broken, it's broken and has to be replaced.
