Question:

Plumbing question. Sink drains slowly?

I have the split kitchen sinks and one of them is draining very slowly. It takes like 45 minutes to drain a sink half full of water. I used Drano and Liquid Plumr but they did nothing. We have used a plunger and a snake also. The pipes are plastic. What can I do to make the sink drain normally?

  1. Do the two sinks share a single trap?  If so, the culprit is likely between the sink drain and the trap, which is a straight shot (or should be) and you might spot the problem with a flashlight.  If each sink has its own trap, you should get on-line instructions for cleaning out a trap and go to it.  (I assume that you've checked to make sure that the clogged sink drain isn't the one that has the disposal attached and simply needs to have the disposal run ... right?)

  2. Take it apart, clean it out, and put it back together.

Just make sure you have plumbers tape or putty on hand to put it back together.

  3. if you have used a snake then any blockage should  be cleared, Id call a plumber if I was you

  4. try a plunger

  5. well if I am reading your question right you have a double bowl sink and only one side drains slow? well if its just the one side it mean that the clog is somewhere from your sink drian to the connection with the other drain. I would unsrew the pipe and clean it that way. If you are not comfortable doing that and you said you have tried all those other things..call a plumber...sorry!

    Good luck

  6. dont know what the snake thing is

,but if that happens with my sink i get big bucket go underneath the sink unscrew where it goes in a u shape and check its not blocked there, im not a plummer just had to do that before hope that helps

remember put the bucket below where your unscrewing pipe :-)
