  1. All you need to know now is that plumbers make d**n good money...enough that Doctors (some doctors, at least) seriously consider getting out of medicine and into the pipes.  The plumbing trade cured a friend of mine of chronic nail-biting, too.

  2. For most apprenticeships the wage is calculated as a percentage of the adult wage, dependent on the year or level of the apprentice and to which formal wages arrangement engaged.  http://www.wagenet.gov.au/wagenet/Search...

1st year apprentice wages can range from approximately $247 to $352 per week ($12,844 to $18,304 per year).

(you may also be entitiled to wage top ups, tools etc - see http://www.australianapprenticeships.gov...

    - most people pay above the award rate though as they need more tradesman.  If you are getting a lower rate, you may still be entitled to some youth allowance also as a top up.

4th year apprentice wages can range from approximately $552 to $789 per week ($28,704 to $41,028 per year).

Once you are a tradesman you can be earning big bucks, yes more than Dr's .... sub-contact or start your own business.

    Good Luck
