Plunket Shield: Ingram shines for Northern District against CD

http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Brad-Wilson-c1187 won the toss and elected to bat first. The wicket had some pace and bounce in it, but it wasn’t enough to trouble the batsmen. The start to the innings was not good for Northern Districts as they lost Wilson early,
after he had scored just nine runs.
The first-drop http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Daniel-Flynn-c1309 then joined Bradley Watling at the crease and the pair amassed a solid partnership of 72 runs for the second wicket. However, Watling was unable to capitalise on the start he got and was dismissed for 36.
Two more quick wickets fell after his dismissal and the hosts looked like they were in a spot of bother at that stage. However, wicketkeeper batsman http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Peter-McGlashan-c2178 and Flynn took their team out of trouble with a brilliant century stand for the fifth wicket.
McGlashan scored 53 runs before getting out, while Flynn was dismissed after scoring a magnificent 131 runs.
A half-century from http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Graeme-Aldridge-c1502 helped the home team get closer to the 350 run mark. Aldridge was the last man to be dismissed for the home team after scoring 58 runs. Northern Districts ended up with 342 runs on the board.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Doug-Bracewell-c1394 took three wickets each for Central Districts to help their team stay alive in the match.
Central Districts got off to an exceptional start in their first innings. The opening pair of Peter Ingram and George Worker constructed a brilliant partnership of 164 runs. However, Ingram’s dismissal after scoring 105 runs triggered a mini collapse.
Worker was out after scoring a steady knock of 52 runs. He would have liked to carry onto the start he got, but he did the job for his team.
Matthew Sinclair then misjudged a run and was short of his crease when Watling threw the ball at the stumps. Sinclair scored 16 runs. http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Brad-Patton-c1186 was also unable to take advantage of the platform provided by the openers as he was dismissed for just 12 runs.
At the close of the second day’s play, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Tim-Weston-c2674 was unbeaten on 14 while Noema-Barnett remained not-out on 22.
The bowlers haven’t had much success in the match so far, but http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Jono-Boult-c1732 was the pick of the bowlers for Northern Districts as he grabbed two wickets for his team. The only other wicket-taker was George Aldridge, who took one wicket.
