I'm a plus size woman and was wondering what is the best baby carrier for me to buy for when I have my newborn is November. Most of them just seem to be made for little people. Does anyone know of one that is better fit for plus size moms?

  1. i've just been using a Snugli.  it has a criss-cross back and adjustable sides.  i am not small and there's plenty of room left on the strap.  my b***s are 42d and i wear like plus size shirts, and i have kindof a big tummy still and the snugli is comfortable for me.

  2. i have the same problem. my little bundle of joy is due at the end of september and i cant find anything either. ive decided I'm going to either carry her or pram it everywhere i do. saves on the stress that's for sure.

  3. if you want a pouch style sling hotslings have plus sizes.  A ring sling or a wrap are very adjustable.

  4. Try this sleepy wrap. www.sleepywrap.com

There are women who have left comments about the wrap who have been plus size and think it is an excellent baby product to have that they could just not live without. I have ordered and mine and am just waiting for its arrival now. Its fairly inexpensive, has lots of colour options and should fit well. Good luck with your new arrival.

  5. An adjustable sling would be your best bet. You can order custom sizes at http://www.sleepingbaby.net

Another good choice would be a Maya Wrap.

  7. hmm im not sure about this but my suggestion is getting one that is more like a wrap.... then the kind that straps like a backpack...... here is a website i found something like this looks like it may be more adjustable and i think in the picture closer to the bottom there is a plus size mom using it

  8. Ring slings and pocket slings all come in different sizes, including ones for big dads so I'm sure they also will fit you.

Wraps come in two sizes generally, the larger size also fits most large men and over weight women.  You probably want on 5.5-6yards depending on how big you are.

Mei Teis probably come in different sizes, I haven't done much shopping for them as I just make my own.

As for "structured" carriers like bjorns;  frankly they aren't that good for baby's spine and hip so I have never looked into them.

If you want a "backpack" style one for when baby is bigger look for one from a real outdoor activity store like Mountain Equipment Co-op.

  9. Hello there! I am a babywearing addict and have many kinds of carriers!

For a plus size wearer I would recommend a wrap style carrier with no buckles, or a XL mai tai. Both of these are incredibly flexible for larger sizes and so so comfy.

My pics are the Storch wrap ( you would need the 6m) or the Kozy MT.
