  1. Looks like you are missing some drivers

and the other thing is called sleep mode where u dont have to go through the bios

  2. The best way to load Vista would be to boot from the CD and install a fresh new copy. Some how it seems vista has not installed the correct drivers for your laptop. To fix this simply log onto the IBM website and navigate to the drivers download page for your model of laptop. Then download the graphics drivers for Vista and install. This should fix the issue. (hint you may be able to go to the device manager check the status of the graphics driver and click the update in which it may find the drivers for you, you must be connected to the internet first though)

  3. contact microsoft tech support. IF YOU PAID for the program they have to help you install it so these problems go away.

  4. To sort out the booting issue use VistaBoot Pro (its freeware)

    http://www.vistabootpro.org/

To sort out the volume and you icons being huge you need the drivers

Ive had a look on the IBM thinkpad website

    http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.w...

But can not find drivers for vista

The reason your Icons are big are becuase you need to change resolution, right click the desktop and select properties, Select the settings tab and change the resolution, (this may be limited because of lack of drivers)

  5. The Icons on your dektop being all big n stuff may not be a driver problem you might have to change your screen resolution if video ain't been config'd yet.

This is a option in control pannel and the sub option displai. Or You can right click on your desktop (anywhere will do) and click properties, goto the settings tab and change the resolution to match your screen size, or until you are happy you can see stuff proper.

Not too sure about the answer to the other parts though, more than likely is drivers, But I have not had the displeasure of using windows vista very much and so I can't really help :-D

Hope you get the sizes sorted though and it all looks pretty and stuff.
