It's been a full week since my baby was born, and for the past few days the bleeding has been brown and light..normal. today while feeding my baby I felt heavy discharge (I typically only bleed lately while nursing) and slight return of cramping. it went from enough to fill a light pad, to filling a regular one in 5min. its very red and fresh looking. I also had some minor pains in my one breast (opposite to the one I was feeding him with). what does all this mean? and should I wait for another very red pad before calling doctor? its a long weekend, so it would be hard to get a hold of anyone until tuesday. if everything returns to normal, then what happened?

  1. I had my 2nd son 10 weeks ago and the same thing happened to me, so should nothing else major happen in the next couple of days this sounds like something normal.

No worries! good luck with the baby.

  2. That is normal.  I had heavy bleeding for over a week after I had my daughter.  It's nothing to be concerned about.  I also got pretty painful cramps towards the end of that week as well.

  3. if it happens with more than one pad, i would call my dr's answering service to speak with the dr on call.  better off to be safe than sorry...
