Plz help me. I m very much confused?

Hi,

I am a software engineer. I got my training in J2EE and Oracle. But

now i am working on database only. i dont have to code. i m doing

regression testing only. my friends suggested me to switch to oracle.

now i m trying to study more about oracle.

My question is which book should i study - oracle 9i or 10g ? what

will be useful to me because i m going to complete my 1 year in IT

industry in coming November.

U guys r experienced. plz suggest me what should i do. i m not working

on java so i think i need to study oracle only. plz help me. i m very

much confused.

  1. Not all companies are going to be using the same version of -- Anything.

    You'll learn this when you go from company to company and find out

    that they're probably 7 builds behind the next guy.

    Go with oracle 9i -- and progress into 10g after you feel comfortable

    with the material covered in 9i.

  2. Hi dude,

            Even I have been trained on Java and J2EE and atleast you are working out on Oracle but myself completely out of the technologies. The process in which presently am working is completely different and am not sure how far will this help me out in my future. But the only hope I have is that I can surely serve the company with the work it has given me. The motto is company tries to make its employees work under any kind of condition. So its better you try to concentrate on Oracle 9i and then you can shift to other version of it.

    Is that understood?
