Hypothesize how human lives would be impacted if animals like amphibians were to suddenly decline due to a deadly fungus infection?

  1. All organisms are part of interwoven food chains called food webs.  When the biomass of one organism in a food chain or web changes, other organisms are affected.  

    If the fungus causes a decline in the biomass of an amphibian, then the organisms that primarily depended on the amphibian as a source of food must go to another organism as a source of food.  That would cause  a disproportionate decrease in the biomass of those organisms being eaten which would affect other organisms.  Do you get the picture?

    So, the ultimate result is that it is POSSIBLE to affect humans.  However, humans have somewhat removed themselves from those situations as we have developed our farming skills to a level that we normally no longer depend on natural food chains and food webs.  


  2. why don't you just read up how amphibians play a part in human lives, then write what would happen if they weren't there?
