  1. Let's take it from the top....

    Your equation is -2x+y=3

    The ordered pairs are in the form of (x,y).  Therefore, questions 23 through 26 are basically asking you to solve for either x or y (depending on the question) given the known equation of -2x+y=3

    23. (?, -4) means that they want you to find the x value given that y=-4.  Just take the y value given as -4 and plug it into your equation and solve for the x value..    Let's do it....

    -2x+(-4) =3

    -2x=3+4

    -2x=7

    x=-7/2=-3.5

    The check is to plug both x and y into your equation and see if you come up with the correct answer.  We know y = -4 and we solved for x= -3.5.  Therefore, using the equation we plug in the values and hope our result is 3.  Let's do it....

    -2*-3.5 + -4 =?

    by order of operation we do the multiplication first

    therefore we get 7+-4 ====>  which is also 7-4 ====> which does equal 3.

    I don't have time to help you right now with all of them but if you need more help let me know.  This should help you do all the questions.

    As for your slope question just think about it as "given a 1 unit change in the value x how much does y change?"  Therefore for any line equation let x=0 and solve for y and then let x=1 and solve for y.  The difference in the two y values gives you the slope of the line.
