Plz help me with my new ASROCK motherboard. everything is ok except the sound driver. ?

it says that u need to install a hotfix. my os is xp SP1

plz give complete answer. this is what i have in the README:

For normal working of High Definition Audio under Windows XP 64bit,

there is a hotfix file provided by Microsoft.

Please install the hotfix before installing the audio driver.

Otherwise, the audio driver may not be installed successfully.

First of all, i would upgrade to windows XP service pack 3. Just go to Windowsupdate.microsoft.com. It may take a long time considering you are way back at SP1. SP3 is basically a collection of all the bug and security fixes that WinXP has had since its release. Most likely the hotfix that you need will come with SP3, and the driver will install properly.

If you still have the error after installing Service pack 3, go ahead and download the file that you listed. Go through whatever setup program it has and then install the driver. 64 bit windows has different drivers from standard 32 bit windows so they are not always perfectly compatible at the first go around.
