ok so.....here's the topic

"should internet like alcohol have a minimum age criteria?"

plz plz write as much as u can .............it's a 3 min debate which i have to present on the 1st of august......

You present an interesting concept that may be difficult to enforce.

In many ways it is a very good analogy.

Alcohol consumption is regarded and controlled quite differently by various cultures and countries around the world.  The Internet is treated much the same way

Much as there is often a differentiation between: 1) non-alcoholic drinks, 2) beer & wine, 3) hard alcohol spirits;

So too should there a differentiation between 1) Child friendly sites, 2) News Sites with that may have disturbing content or express politically volatile issues 3) Restricted sites that cater to sexually explicit or other topics not universally acceptable for all ages and beliefs.

Another example would be the ratings that they have for movies and video games.  G, PG, PG-13, R, X etc

The internet should not have an age barrier like alcohol, as it is a useful resource for younger children to learn.

If it had an age barrier, how would we be able to learn about the dangers of stuff, find out about news, play games or talk to people who we know?

The internet can be dangerous but if we teach children at a young age how to handle themselves on the internet it will show a good example and there will therefore be no need for an age barrier.

Alcohol has an age barrier because its dangerous (far more dangerous than the internet), it can cause deaths, and serious accidents.

Over 100,000 deaths a year are caused by alcohol, and I'm sure there are far less caused by the internet!

So to summarise,  the internet should not have a minimum age as it is educational and safer than alcohol!
