okay im 12 and i kno im overweight i wear size 16-14 pants i wanna be able to wear juniors and size 0 like my bff she can just in any store and pick anything and it fits i have to got to certin stores its so hard cuz i tell ma mom im trying to change the way i eat but u she ma famz iz jamaican and dey like white rice red meat and fried foods its so hard cuz she buys cakez and stuff and i end up pigin out and my friends are no help at all when ma gym teacher gave out everyones bmi mine wat 27 sumthing i was so ashmed plz any advice or ppl how can support me when i need it :(

  1. hey girl, i'm here to help in any way i can. i have a couple of friends that used to have your problem so i would like to help you. do you excersice? you should try drinking alot of water, it helps flush out your system and get all the bad stuff out. like if you eat junk food or anything like that. 2nd it's all about portion control you can eat rice and meat just eat a litte bit at a time. and no more soda, no more candy, and no more chips. if you  stop eating and drinking those it will be the best thing for your body. what ever you eat or drink turns into sugar in your body, that's what gives you energy. but if you don't use the energy that you have stored. those sugars turn into fat. the road to becoming fit will be HARD and Long. trust me i know. it took me 2 years to get into the shape i was happy with. i would REALLY recomend swimming, jogging and if you can sign up for water polo in school. it will be tough training but it really works......hope my advice helps you. good luck.


  2. brisk walk an hour daily...eat 5 small healthy meals a day...you just gotta build your discipline kid...no amount of fried foods and cakes can slim you down!it will be hard but it will save your life as you grow older,so just do it and stop giving excuses!

  3. Sweetie, just take one step at a time. You cannot stop eating as it is not healthy. Eat smaller portions, talk to your parents to make healthier meals for you. . Talk to your parents about the importance of healthy food, not only because you would like to lose weight, but for your health too. You don’t want to have high cholesterol or diabetes later in life right? And exercise as much as you can- bike, swim skate. Go for a walk. 30 minutes a day to start, then increase it as you get used to it. If you can, go to a nutritionist and get a personalized diet. if not, here is a website that helps you keep count of what you eat as well as give you exercise tips, recipes, etc. www.sparkpeople.com - it's free.

  4. Say to mum, Right i want you to buy good fresh food like salad and fruit and vedge. and if she still buys bad food dont eat it. She must buy SOME fruit. cut fizzy juice out and drink water(its from a tap ) or bottled whatever you prefer. cakes and sweets = X! they fatty and sugary. do jogging and jumping jacks AND you will be surprised but skipping is really good! obviously fast.

  5. Ok, first off - don't beat yourself up!  yes, it can be hard when your mom is into cooking (especially fattening stuff).

    I would try talikng to her again & telling her that you want to make some changes & would appreciate being able to get some food for you, you would be in charge of preparing it for your self - she may be onboard with that!

    If that doesn't work, then you can control how much you eat.  Try to not eat more than your fist worth of food.

    Hold your fist over your food & everything sticking out past your fist - save for later.

    If you cut your portions - then even eating the wrong foods won't do as much damage.

    Now, start moving!  Ride your nike, walk around the block, roller skate - jump rope, etc.

    I also feel I should tell you that people that are size zero & 1 are few & far between.  If you are bigger boned than your friend - you will never get there (sorry, I am bigger boned & I looked awesome in a 9!).  Shoot for a short term goal - like dropping to a 14 only size, then 12, then 10.  You want to be able to maintain the weight, so starving & working out too hard will only last short term!  Make small changes that have big effects (like portion control & getting active at least 20-30 minutes every day)!  You can do it!  You have plenty of time & focus on what you can control!  Hope I helped!
