hello Herman.  Again.  Maybe you should be asking this question over in entertainment.  We only research dead people here, and I don't think either of these two are dead yet.

This question is very appropriate for the Genealogy section.  The individual researching their family history doesn't have to be dead.  All of their ancestors don't have to be deceased either.  The PBS special " African American Lives" specifically dealt with the Genealogy of famous African American actors/actresses.  Dr. Henry Louis Gates had the entertainers take DNA tests.  It traced their ancestry back to multiple West African tribes.  He also researched their family histories in the United States.  Many of their family members had built schools and owned vast amounts of property.  You can purchase the PBS documentaries on PBS.org.  There were 2 documentaries.  Dr. Gates commented in "African American Lives 2" that the first documentary received a huge response.  It has inspired many people, particularly African Americans to research their genealogies and exposed them to DNA testing resources.  The Whoopi Goldberg interview was very emotional.

even though they are not dead.. the series had excellent info on how to trace your family.

I believe the entire series is also for sale on dvd.

Wouldn't this be better placed in the celebrity forum as Whoopi is alive and well, and you are quite clearly just a fan of hers and not a relative. Why don't you do a google search or something.
