Go rent "An Inconvenient Truth" DVD and watch it.  Take any number of examples of global warming from it and research on the web.

The cause of global warming is all the gases we shove into the atmosphere that aren't supposed to be there.  We do this mostly by burning fossil and non-fossil fuels.

  

My favorite proof is the melting of the Antarctica and Greenland glaciers.  Ice that has been ice for thousands and thousands of years is melting fast.
