  1. Home schooling means that you actually have to be taught lessons and complete assignmnets at home.  It doesn't mean that you just stay home instead of going to school and call it homeschool.    So, who was teaching you?  And, what curriculum was he/she using?

  2. I agree - contact HSLDA.  If you aren't a member, join.  You'll need to let them know what's going on, but their main purpose is to take care of things like that for homeschooling families.

You are not legally required to submit any sort of records, testing, or any other evaluation information to the school district, so they would have no idea whether or not you're being educated.  The only thing you're required to submit is a notice of intent within 2 weeks of the start of the school year.  Legally, they cannot require anything more of you.

However, it seems that many districts try, and that they are fairly ignorant of homeschool law.  Check here http://www.hslda.org/laws/default.asp?St... and the articles here http://www.hslda.org/hs/state/KY/default... under "headlines" for more info.

Seriously, get a membership with HSLDA and let them take care of it.  The only reason a school district has a right to step in, at all, is if you honestly are not doing a single thing and your education is being neglected.

  3. What?  What kind of paper?  Who said you were not getting educated?

What do you mean "sign up for homeschool"?

Are you in the USA ?

None of this sounds familiar to me and we have been homeschooling for almost 3 years.

  4. Are you a member of the Home School Legal Defense association (HSLDA)? If you are than you should contact them about this.

According to HSLDA the Kentucky Supreme Court ruled that only one form of monitoring is allowed and that is standardized testing. Since the Kentucky legislature has not passed any law requiring testing, you can't be monitored in that way anyway.

Here is a link to the information on the HSLDA website:

    http://www.hslda.org/laws/analysis/Kentu...

  5. You should contact the home school organization HSLDA for help

You are required to keep attendence logs and scholarship information.

That is ALL that is required.

  6. I agree the person to contact would be The Homeschool Legal Defense Association. If you are signed up with them then they can protect you against this type of discrimination. The only way they can state you are not meeting the standards is if you live in a state that requires proof of testing. That would be the only way. Sounds like the school system is just trying to bully you into going back because they lose money for each child that is not enrolled in Public school. Some school districts are worse than others. Just make sure you contact hslda.com and find out what they have to say on the matter.
