Plzzzzz!!! im so desperate! for this absolute value question!?

plzz can anybody give me any ideas? a machine is used to fill several bags with 16 oz of sugar. after the bags are filled, another machine weighs them. if the bag weighs .3 OZ. or less than the desired weght, the bag is rejected. write an epuation to find the heaviest and lightest bag the machine will approve. ????

  4. Well lets see.  I don't think absolute value has to factor in here.  

    Lets call the acceptable weight of the bag "x".  According to the text, if

    x=16 then OK, also

    x>16 - 0.3 then OK

    therefore an acceptable range for X is:

    16>=X> 16 - 0.3

    The text you have provided a does not state the condition where the bag weighs more than 16 oz.  Assuming the problem states an +/- 0.3 oz acceptable range, then we have:

    16.3>x>15.7
