I am calibrating a scope at 35 feet away. When pump three times it was really closed to the target. But when pump six or higher it goes above the target like an inch away. Is that normal for a pneaumatic pump. It's kinda windy like 10 mph could that be the problem. I am using Crosman pointed pellet .177.

  1. Yes, that would be normal.

The more times you pump your rifle(up to 10) the higher the pellet velocity.

The higher the velocity of the pellet, the flatter the trajectory.

If you sight in at three pumps, then pump 6 times and shoot at the same target(range), you should expect to be a little high.

    Later: <added> Yes, that's what I would do.  I would sight-in at maximum(10 pumps)

Once you get your rifle sighted in at whatever range you're working on. >I ran your rifle/pellet combo through my airgun calculator. I estimated a couple of things**, but, it should be very close< If you sight-in at 28 yards. you will be 1/2in low at 4 yards - dead on at 8 - 1/2in high at 18 - and then 1/2in low again at 32 yards. This gives you the flattest trajectory for your rifle pellet combination, and should help with your accuracy.

    **I went with 625fps with the Crosman pellet - a VZR(Vital Zone Radius) of 1/2in - and a scope height of 1.25in

    Good luck
