Espanyol have registered their first win of the season after their 3-2 win over Rayo Vallecano and their Argentine coach, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Mauricio-c24899 Pochettino, has praised his team for their efforts and has called their performance heroic.
The Catalans have been struggling since the beginning of the season. They were rooted in the relegation zone as they failed to win a single match prior to this game.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Cristian-c9491 Stuani snatched a narrow victory for Espanyol as he scored his first for the club in the 90th minute.
This crucial win truly brings a much needed relief and respite to the troubled club.
Their Argentine coach, Mauricio Pochettino, admitted how difficult life has been for his club and how crucial this win was for them.
“We have suffered a lot, but this is a huge rush. We deserve this win. It was important for us – we were heroic,” he admitted.
He also commented on how these three points are valuable to the team as they are battling to avoid relegation.
“These are three key points.”
A win against Espanyol would have made Rayo Vallecano break into the top ten of the table standings.
However, Rayo Vallecano boss, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Paco-c29025 Jemez, was not pleased with the result and admitted his team didn’t deserve to get anything from this match.
He also talked about how their own mistakes have cost them and how they need to improve.
“The end result is what is important. I am happy to some extent with the team, but our own errors cost us," he told a Press conference.
“We need to improve on some small details, but we deserved to lose.”
The 42-year-old coach also declined to comment on the match referee, Teixeira Vitienes, who dismissed two players from both sides in the second half of the match.
“I do not want to talk about the referee. We are the ones who lost the match, and I do not want to divert attention from that,” he said.
The Catalan club, Espanyol, will now be hoping to win their next match in La Liga when they host the in-form Malaga on October 28.
