Question:

Pocket PC storage memory - why is it full??

I bought a pocket PC from my brother. It's an iPAQ with Windows Mobile 5.0 on it. For the life of me I can't find out what iPAQ it is...

Anyway the problem is that it states I'm nearly out of storage memory. I don't know what is on this thing because I can't find anything on it that would be large. When I click on "memory" I get total 24.12 MB, 23.91 of them in use, and .21 free.

I do NOT see files or programs that are large; it's pretty much empty! Where is this coming from?

Also when I click on "remove programs" NO program shows up under "programs in storage memory.

Also, another very frustrating thing is that when I'm under "memory" and click at the bottom on "Find large files using storage memory" and I search for files "larger than 64KB," NO programs show up when I click find!!

The ONLY thing that is "large" that I put on there is the real player CAB file and I want to install it but I can't because it says that I don't have enough free memory *sigh*.

I also can't figure out how to wipe this device clean and re-install everything. I don't have any software for it; I'd have to download it all.

Thanks for any help!!

  1. To wipe it:  Let it completely die for an extended time. THis will wipe everything.

Try the reset: a small access hole probably on the bottom.  I usually have to reset mine every other time when using it.

You can also shift, at least on mine, the memory allotment and how it is used.

The model # should be on a sticker UNDER the slide on back black cover.   Probably 35xx, 36xx, 38xx or 39xx something.

Download Microsoft ActiveSync and you should be able to get into it with your PC and check for large files.
