The Arsenal striker is confident Germany will overcome Italy in the semi-finals of the 2012 European Championship.
The Mannschaft have been more than spectacular in this year’s European Championships. Joachim Low’s have lived up to their favourites tag by beating heavyweights http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Portugal-c2984. Die Nationalelf did not crumble under pressure;
instead they flourished and reached the semi-finals.
On Thursday Germany face http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Italy-c2926, a team which has defeated them in seven previous competitive matches. Many regard the Azzurri as DFB eleven’s bogey team. The last time these sides met in a tournament was back in 2006 World Cup,
when Marcello Lippi’s side scored twice in the extra time to book their place in the final in Munich.
This time around the Mannschaft have the momentum on their side and will be looking to set the record straight. Unlike Cesare Prandelli’s men, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Germany-c2904 have scored in every single game of the 2012 European Championships so far.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429 forward believes Joachim Low’s side has gone through a major overhaul since
2006, he thinks this improved side is different to the one that lost in the World cup in many aspects.
"It's the time to break that series. Since 2006 we have improved enormously. Today we have a whole different philosophy and a different team. The Italians also know that,” he is quoted as saying in an interview.
The former Koln man insists his side have a strong desire to reach the final. He is confident that the DFB eleven will be fired up for the clash on Thursday, and the fact that they have not won in 7 matches will give them extra
motivation to end the Italians’ European dream.
"One thing is clear - we want to be in the final, so we have to beat the Italians. Therefore, this will hopefully be the end for Italy in this European Championship," he added.
Germany will aim to live up to their favourites’ tag by beating the Cesare Prandelli’s side but the Italian s will be no pushovers as they showed in the quarter-final with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749.
