I was thinking of just giving up on poetry, beginning to feel that nothing I wrote amounted to anything. This is a repost from last night since Yahoo wasnt workingBlue RoseBlue Rose illuminatedBy an alabaster moonYou rose timidlyGrowing amongst weedsMidnight blackAn unconscious swayWords fell like raindropsUpon your veinsAbsorbing the flurryYour petals unraveledExposing your centerOf delicate foldsSuch an unusual beautyYet your hue was off-puttingNot like sun stained rosesOther look on in wonderYour head of petals fellStraining your stemExposing the stringsThat loosely held you And now you layBlue rose-dyingWith your indigo tipsPainted brown-slowly curlingThe air whips a stingYour petals lay shrinkingBreaking off easilyLike a wing from a flyYou couldn’t sustain itYour nectar spillsBitter pools gatheringLike tears behind eyelids
