Poem????????????????????

Question

I’ve waited so long

For my prince to come

A boy to care for

Someone to hug, kiss, and love

A devotion strong enough

For ours souls to entwine

And when we depart

We will look down

As we reminisce

About that magical day

When we first met

I don't know if I should add this part:

I was lost in your eyes of blue

You couldn’t help but smile

After our lips first made contact

And our bodies locked

In a sweet embrace

We knew it was love

And like two turtle doves

We will never drift apart

I like it.  You do not need the second part.

It's good enough. But the poetic images you're conjuring have been used so much over time that they feel empty. Love is a strong emotion and somehow this poem just hasn't "matured." I think an effective poem succeeds in creating the intended emotion in the reader and this poem speaks about love but I just don't feel it, sorry. That's just my opinion.
