crying in the night

so small. . .the chance of living slight

cold and weary

scared and dreary

hope leaking away

love maybe was once there, but not to stay

a broken soul

a broken body

one cared for so long ago

self esteam felled

through all the pain - hate hardly propelled

all sanity lost

only the will to survive -

which was quickly lost

how can we ignore

the child's cry

for something of life

something to live.

perhaps to be loved again?
