Poetry lessons for home schooled teen?

I am focusing on classical literature for my home schooled teen son for the months of January and February, and wondered what classical poems are worthwhile for him to study...any suggestions?

It all depends on what you mean by "classical." I am assuming you mean literature prior to the 20th century. Poets in the British and American canons that many consider to be essential would include: Whitman, Poe, Dickinson, Thoreau, Longfellow, Wordsworth, Coleridge, Kipling, Byron, Shelley, Keats, Yeats, Shakespeare, Rosetti, Tennyson. Most of these are from the Romantic period which is a favorite for many students.
