The defender has extended his stay at the AWD-Arena and signed a new three-year deal with the Bundesliga outfit.
Emanuel Pogatetz has signed an extension to his current deal at http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Hannover-96-c39492 and will remain at the club until the summer of 2015. The Austrian international’s current contract with the German side was set to expire in the summer
and there was widespread speculation that the player would be leaving when the season ends.
The former Middlesbrough player expressed his delight on putting pen to paper on the new contract and admitted that he is happy at the club and has no intentions to leave. The player insisted that he is impressed by Hannover’s
form in both the Bundesliga and the UEFA Europa League and wants to contribute to the side’s success in the future.
The centre-back added that the thought of leaving the club at the end of the campaign never came to his mind and that a new deal was just a mere formality for him.
“I love playing in this team. I am delighted to be part of the team and I would like to play my part in us continuing to play successful football. Since everything is right both privately and with my work, and we are happy in Hannover,
there is no reason for anything to change,” he was quoted as saying in an interview.
Hannover’s director of sport, Jorg Schmadtke, is elated on securing the new deal for the player and admitted that the Austrian is a huge asset for the club. He insisted that the side is keen on keeping its best players for the
future.
“Emanuel Pogatetz fits in perfectly with us thanks to his qualities. He is an important cornerstone of our team,” he added.
Emanuel Pogatetz joined the Bundesliga outfit in 2010 from English side, Middlesbrough. The player has thus far made 47 appearances for the club in all competitions and has been an integral part of the side that has progressed
to the last 16 of the UEFA Europa League. The defender also has 47 international caps to his name and has scored two times for the country.
