Point At Issue a leading contender for the Bet Totepool Text Tote To 89660 Selling Stakes at Leicester
Leicester will become home for the Class 6 Bet Totepool Text Tote To 89660 Selling Stakes over five furlongs and 218 yards on Friday, 13th April. The line-up assembled for the race has six three-year-old thoroughbreds who will compete for the
£1,811 purse.
Point At Issue, One Cool Cat’s three-year-old bay gelding out of mare, Atishoo, has raced four times during the new season.
The three-year-old penetrated into the season on 1st January in the Pay And Play Southwell Golf Club Handicap at Southwell over six furlongs. The race was won by the 7/4 joint favourite, Laffan, who was ridden by Phillip Makin and had 1 ¾ lengths’
lead from the runner up of the race, Point At Issue.
The runner up was guided through the track by Adrian Nicholls while the other joint favourite, Man Of My Word, finished third.
The second and third starts of the season were failures with a fifth ending with Andrew Mullen and then fourth position credited to Adrian Nicholls.
Starting the season off decently and then facing two losses in a row finally got David Nicholls’ charge bagging the fourth outing of the season.
Point At Issue won the Book Tickets On-Line @ Redcarracing.Co.UK Apprentice Claiming Stakes on 2nd April at Redcar over six furlongs. For this race he was coupled with jockey, Michael O’Connell and the two led the runner up of the race, Come On
Dave, by 3 ¼ lengths. He was the 5/2 joint favourite of the race.
The other joint favourite of the race, The Dancing Lord, finished sixth on the line-up of eight.
Point At Issue has not raced at Leicester before but has a high probability of dominating the fifth outing of the season and enjoying the second success today.
An entry to look out for is the three-year-old bay gelding, Thorpe Bay, as he too has recently struck his seasonal debut. On 16th February, he won the Membership Of Southwell Golf Club Claiming Stakes at Southwell over six furlongs.
He had Frederik Tylicki onboard and the two led the final three and a half lengths of the track.
Thorpe Bay too will seek out for the second celebration of the season and thus would threaten Point At Issue.
