Point Of Entry strong for the Sword Dancer Invitational Stakes
The Grade 1 Sword Dancer Invitational Stakes (Turf) has brought together nine three-year and above contenders for the £232,258 prize money. The mile and four furlong race will be hosted by Saratoga on Saturday, 18th August. Two entries among the candidates, Point Of Entry and Turbo Compressor, the former is seeking for striking beyond hat-trick while the latter is making provisions for lining up three victories.
The four-year-old bay colt started racing just during the previous season and has won thrice out of the four outings that he undertook ever since the new season dawned. He gave shot to two allowance races at the beginning of the season, one at Gulfstream Park and the next one at Keeneland.
He raced over 1 ½ miles in two minutes and :27.57 seconds on 12th April, 2012 at Keeneland and was soon followed by the runner-up, Tahoe Lake. The third spot after the winner was filled up by, Belo Acteon.
The new season brought for the Claude R. McGaughey III trained the experience of racing among the graded company. He did not only race but impressed the crowds and the connections by making the most out of the very first chance.
Point Of Entry won the Grade 2 Elkhorn Stakes on 27th April, 2012 at Keeneland over 1 ½ mile. The runner-up, Tahoe Lake, could not race through the wire before two minutes and :29.45 seconds and was joined by, Simmard, soon.
The overwhelming success that the partnership of jockey, J. Velazquez and Point Of Entry brought was tested at another level. Dynaformer’s son was entered in a Grade 1 contest for a straight second time on 14th July, 2012.
He won the Grade 1 Man O’War Stakes at the Belmont Park in two minutes and :13.87 seconds setting Center Divider as the runner-up.
The Kentucky bred won this race with jockey, J. Lezcano.
He will need to look out for Center Divider who is racing with Point Of Entry for a straight second time and will also need to keep an eye on Turbo Compressor who has plans laid out for a hat-trick.
