I am starting ballet again in the fall since i was 8. i danced for 6 years before, and i am now getting back into it. i am 15. i have been catching up on things and reading TONS of books on how to do EVERYTHING! my mom also helps me cause she used to be a dancer. i can go 16 high demi-pointe releves without holding onto anything...is that good? I was just wondering what the requirements are for going en pointe. and what shoes are good for beginners with an egyptian foot? (big toe is the longest and a narrow foot)

  1. To start let me say: I am extremely jealous you have an egyptian foot! (I have a Grecian foot so balancing is a little different)

16 demi-pointe is pretty good! The requirements at my studio are to be able to stay up on demi for at least 30 seconds with minimal shaking. If you can time yourself that would be a good goal.

I have a tip for you when you are on pointe: When you are up be sure to put your weight towards the front of the foot (mostly your big toe). I have the problem where my foot leans to the back and that can lead to injuries so be careful.

Good luck and you will do great!

  2. First AWESOME!! and i rec omened asking a ballet specialists
