Hi all

I have been taking ballet for three years now, and plan on doing the class for one more (side by side with working out for strength)

After I plan on moving to the pointe class, BUT... will i be too old to be accepted? By that time I will be sixteen/ almost seventeen (b day in December) Just wanted to know how it works!

  1. In the 'ballet world' you would be older than most dancers, who start pointe work around the age of 10. But the extra work will benefit you more, instead of just rushing into pointe work. I guarantee you will be happy you waited so long! I'm 13 and I started pointe when I was 10 and I've been dancing for 10 years.

  2. It is relative to your studio. My studio will let any age go up on pointe if they have trained for several years and have the required technique and strength for pointe work.

  3. It may benefit you that you're older. Your growth plates are already fuly developed and chances are your ankles are stronger.

  4. Well, at my dance school he have to be chosen to be on point.

So I don't know how it works at your school.

But anyways :P, If you are just starting, I'd try a beginner class

because they start with the basics.

and if you really love doing ballet,

    which I'm sure you do,

you'd have no problem with this.

It most likely won't be too late to be accepted.

It doesn't really matter how old,

It just matters how young, you know?

anywho, best of luck, I'm rooting for you :D

  5. thats weird, im 11, n my 7th year of ballet and 2nd year of pointe, but n my pointe class last year their was a 50 year old, a 40 year old, and then im the next oldest! hope this helped, keep dancin! =)

  6. It all depends on your dance studio, but usually, you can start at any time.  You will not be in the same classes as people your age because you will have to take a beginner pointe class, but that does not matter if it is your true passion.

good luck and hope this helps!

  7. Yeah, oh course you can start pointe at that age! All you need to do is find a place that offers pointe classes at your age! If you already go to a place that does that for you, than great!

  8. it depense on you dance school ask your teacher

  9. no
