Pointe shoe question?

I have very wide feet...about 4.5 inches, and i can never find a shoe with a box large enough! the shoes that i get feel fine to an extent, but they aren't flattering and (after a month or two) the shoe is affecting my pointe work in general!

does anyone have a similar problem that could give me advice (about specific shoes or just in general)?

thanks so much!

  1. I know how hard it is to find a pointe shoe that fits. I am an experienced dancer and I have the same problem. What I do is that I go to a pro and I get my feet measured and fitted for my pointe shoe. If you look around, online or around town you are most likely able to find a pointe shoe store. There they can fit you and most likely specially order shoes for you. Or, if all of that fails you can order Discount Dance Supply. This amazing magazine has all that you could ever need for your pointe shoes. I hope I helped.

  2. Bloch IS designed for the wider feet. the way i remember that is bloch brand is for block feet. Don't feel bad, i have wide feet too. If you have not too strong of feet, try European Balance. If you have Strong feet, try Alpha's (both by bloch) if your feet are wide because of bunions and you have a strong metatarsal, try Ulanova's by Grishko (just got them and already love them!) But, grishko has widths that got really wide so go get fitted at your local dance store and see if they can help you a little more.

  3. grishkos are the best i had the same problem and i switched to the blochs and leos are horrible for wide feet dont listen to people who say they are my feet are a litte narrower and my shoes are only a triple x but they come in 4 x

  4. Well there are different brands of pointe shoes out there - for example sansha is designed for wider feet but Bloch isn't...

You could go to a ballet shop and ask about the characteristics of different brands of pointe shoes and hopefully they'll find something suitable for you!

Good luck, hope i helped! :)

  5. Try Russian pointe they can accomodate a wide range of sizes and shapes.

  6. blochs are for wide feet and gaynor mindens have various box sizes
