Pointless Safety Car Ruins Race ?

Question

Why was the safety car even deployed then, it was a pointless safety car and its just turn the world championship on its head.

Why do the race directors constantly destroy races with stupid decisions ?

The car in question was not even affecting the race, the fire was out and it was no where near the racing line, instead they bring in the safety car and when every pitted why was the red light on ?

It seems they only put this light on to catch out the drivers no sooner had Lewis hit the back of kimi the red light went out so was tht another stupid pointless decision to have the red light on, when by the time they rejoined they would have quite easily been behind the back cars.

What do you think about tht ?

Its a slight rant as i am a Lewis Hamilton fan and he had this in the bag if not for that safety car but i do admit it was a silly mistake by him and is his fault....but still that red light should not have been on.

Been trying to figure that out myself.  That and the fact of keeping the exit to the pits closed.

I won't comment on the safety car decision. If Charlie Whiting thought that it should be called for, so be it. Montreal has always been a danger zone in the pit lane. Drivers always have to look out if it's a red light or not esp here. One year Montoya and Massa were penalized for ignoring the red lights.

McLaren did not warn Hamilton in time about the red light. Kimi and Kubica saw it and stopped. Hamilton just saw two stationary cars until it was too late. And the red lights are on if the area of that track is in heavy traffic and deemed unsafe for pit lane exits. It was merely a coincidence that the light went green after the collision.

I wonder what is rosbif's take on this one

If someone wrecked into the parked car everyone would be saying why wasn't there a safety car.  I guess you can't please everyone by keeping the race safe.

Unnecessary safety car, cracking track, red light kept on too long.....

pretty bad show so far.

The thing that gets me wound up is the Hamilton haters. straight on here slagging him off and calling him a brat.
