Points on driving licence?

my boyfriend past his test in aug 05 in feb 07 he was given 6 points and had his licence removed and take it all again which was done by july 07 but on his licence now hes got it back again it says he passed when he original did in aug 05. as he still has 6 points will he have the 6 points spare on his licence or as he only passed it again last july will he have no spare, if it makes sence

It was a retest he took.... His licence runs from the date of his original test.

He has 6 points on his licence and 6 'spare' points as he originally passed more than 2 years ago.

Don't see this at all.

It takes 12 points for a diqualification.

Plus a re-test is rarely called for.

You can have points removed after 12 months by sending the DVLA a form and admin cheque for about £12.

Sitting a re-test does not remove penalty points anyway.

No  the original date of pass still applies. ,   The new test was just to get his licence returned...  The 6 points are on there for 4 years so  he has to be careful . the points are there till 2011.

i dont think hes got any spare points.h**l just have to be carefull untill his two years are up.the points will be on his licence for 3-5 years depending on what he was prosecuted for.when i re read your question he is obviosly passed the two year mark so he has 6 points to play with

The 6 points will still remain until they expire in Feb 2011.  (I'm assuming they were for "minor" offences, not for drink driving for instance). He's out of the clutches of the "new driver" scheme now, he has 6 points and 6 to play with.
