Points on yahoo?

The point on here what are they for and how do you use them?

In general, the points let you ask and answer more questions. The more points you have, the more questions you can ask & answer. Also, you can star more, comment more, and vote more. And once your past Level 1, you can start ranking answers.  Once you get to level 5, then you have unlimited access, with only limits on stars and votes.  (http://answers.yahoo.com/info/scoring_sy...

Also, sometimes they'll have things you can sign up for to get things for free. Like, a little while back they had a whole "help the environment" thing going on, and if you were Level 2 or higher, you could sign up and they sent you a free shopping bag and light bulb (and then the more points you got, the more light bulbs you got). And quite awhile back, they gave out prizes Y!Answers anniversary, and the prizes varied according to your level. I was Level 2 at the time, I think (maybe 3), so I got a car magnet, but higher levels got T-shirts, hats, mugs, etc. So points are also useful in that way.

How do you use them?  You'll just get the points, and you don't really have to do anything.  You can just automatically answer more.  To get in on the free offer things, when they have them, they'll post links on the Answers site.  Click there, and then you have to register by filling out a form with your name and address so they can send you the stuff.  So keep your eye out for those.  Maybe they'll have another one for Y!A's next anniversary....I think it's in December.

the more points you have, the higher the lever and the more questions you can ask, i know that doesnt really answer ur question but its the most i know

Points are to motivate you to answer questions in the best way possible. There is no prize for getting more points but it gives me personal satisfaction.

The higher the level, the more you are allowed to contribute to this site. Everytime you move up a level you are allowed to ask more questions and you are allowed to vote and answer more questions too. Although if you are level 5+ (5000 points) then you can ask, and answer as may questions as you like!
