Question:

Poked in the eye with finger.

I was poked in the eye by a friend of mine last night. I wasn't hit with much force at all. I was sitting beside him while he was searching for something on the web. He stretched and i was leaning forward looking at the computer screen when i was poked in the eye. His nail hit me first in the eye.

I only felt pain for a short while when I was hit. The pain went away within 2 minutes. I have been paying close attention to my eye to see if there is any changes. Theres no redness, or pain. or any visual change. The only thing I am experiencing right now is mild aching. That is all.

Should I do something about this? It is really difficult to get an appointment with an eye MD here. Especially when I was just there last month for my annual exam.

Suggestions, and advice is greatly appreciated, thank you.

  1. You should be fine in a couple of days. The eyes are one of the fastest healing parts of the human body.

  2. While painful, you should be fine. Look for swelling and broken vessels, those are cause for concern. If it starts itching really badly, that probably just means your friend had dirt on his finger when he poked you.

  3. I am not a doctor, but my sister got poked in her eye by her daughter and she scratched her cornea. Believe me, if it happened to you, you would know. She could not even open her eye and was in extreme pain. I think you will be OK.

  4. If it was scratched you would know it ,If it doesn't bother you don't sweat it.
