Question:

Pokemon Diamond & Pearl: What are the effects of Rock Slide?

I know that the move, Rock Slide, may make the opponent to flinch, but is that all it's capable of?

The other day, I was challenging a Rhydon at Stark Mountain. I was using my Zapdos, which apparently is a Flying type. The Rhydon hit my Zapdos with Rock Slide. Then, in the next turn, Rhydon used Earthquake, and it actually damaged to my Zapdos!

Does Rock Slide make Flying Pokemon vulernable to Ground type moves? Or is my game glitched?!

I asked this question earlier, but mistook Hammer Arm as making my Flying Pokemon vulnerable. In order to make changes to this question, I had to delete the other one. Thank you for answering the first one, stanyboy. ^^

I am not sure why earthquake does damage to zapdos but i think i've got a reason:

rock slide drops bolders from the sky and the boulders crush right down and hits the foe to the ground. when rhdon uses earthquake, it hits zapdos because it is on the ground.

    hope i helped.

  2. rock slide is a rock type move that makes the opponent finch in 10%.  when you encountered a rhydon, and it damaged your zapdos with earthquake and it works, it means that rhydon was holding an item called iron ball, which is a hold item that makes flying pokemon or levitating pokemon suspendiable to ground type moves. note that sometimes wild pokemon hold items  useful in battle sometimes. you game wasn't giltched. iron ball is a rare item found only in the underground, or in a wild pokemon, or in battle island. so that item was rare. rock slide had nothing to do with the fact that zapdos got him with earthquake. rhydon must have hold te item iron ball so any ground type move can hit flying pokemon. also, your game isn't giltched.

  3. i dont rlly know about this cuz i never know tht earthquake can hit a flying type pokemon >.>

  4. This is odd! You must have a slightly glitched game. Rock slide has a 10% Chance of making you're pokemon flinch, as you know - but apart from that, and damage, it has no other effect!

The only thing I can think of is that you used "Roost" on that turn - which does make flying pokemon suseptable to Earthquake!

  5. Let me tell you that Pokemom D/P has the game glitch. Maybe the glitch acted up.

  6. Well, I have never heard of flying types being hit by earthquake. Are you sure it was not holding iron ball. Its an item which makes flying and pokemon with levitate abilities vulnerable to earthquake.
