  1. Once youbeat the Pastoria Gym,  head east from the

Pokemon Center to the entrance to the Great Marsh, and talk to the Galactic Grunt who is

hanging near here so you can eavesdrop on his conversation. He will run away shortly

after. Follow him and then talk to him. As he runs away, your Rival willbe behind you, and you will be thrown into another battle.

    Rival

The first part of the battle is pretty easy. Notice that his Starly is at

Level 26 and still didn't evolve. Almost anything (anything that isn't  weak

to Aerial Ace, a Flying-type attack) can defeat Starly, so long as

you are either up to level with it or have a good STAB attack.

Now you're against Roselia/Grotle, depending on your starter, you can probably get away with a good Flying-type or Fire-type. Grotle also uses Bite but only in the case of a type-advantage. The only thing to watch out for is

Roselia's Leech Seed, if you get attacked by it, fight on until you are done the current

battle with her, but then switch out for another pokemon.

Buizel should'nt be too hard Pokémon. Having just beaten a Water-type gym, which has a few of Buizel, you should have an Electric-type or Grass-type to beat it. His Prinplup may be a

bit more difficult than Buizel if he decides to use Peck, a flying move, on your Grass pokémon, but as long as you have a good amount of HP

and Defense (and STAB), you should be able to beat your rival's Prinplup.

Monferno/Ponyta might be the greatest challenge, unless, in Monferno's case, you have a Flying-type, But as long as you think before to bring in a water pokémon, there really isn't a problem, Ember and Flame Wheel each will barely hurt your pokémon, and Mach Punch

    will not do much.

Afterwards, your Rival will go off after the Galactic Grunt. Heal at the Pokémon Center, then head out east onto Route 213.

Now we're going through route 213, which contains water pokemon, good for the next gym.

Then continue to the far east rock wall. Head south from here, passing the person in overalls (he isn't a Trainer). You can use

Rock Smash to access get a TM while at the southeast corner, and then continue on

west to fight the first trainer of Route 213.

After, head south to the far shore. Talk to the fisherman standing at the end of the beach to take on Trainer 2.

Head north and right from the trainer, and talk to the Galactic Grunt standing on the shoreline for him to run again. Continue, and you should run into Trainer 3.

Continue on north to take on Trainer 4.

Head up north, to the Hotel. Now enter the Hotel to get through. Inside, you can heal if you chat with Hotel owner (counter). You can also go to into a building for a few double battles. Afterwards, exit through the northern exit. Now head into the Lake Valor area.

Now it's time to talk to that grunt once again, who will, again, run. Follow him north. Now talk to him again to finally fight him. He only has a Glameow.

After, continue north and you will encounter Cynthia. Talk to her and receive the SecretPotion from her, which will make the Psyduck leave Route 210. Hope I helped.
