is the pokemon diamond and pearl version basically the same what is the difference between them?

The main difference between versions of the same generation are different pokemon in each game. Some pokemon can be caught only in diamond, while others can be caught only in pearl.

For instance, the main legendary in Diamond is Dialga, while the main legendary in Pearl is Palkia. You can only get both of those in their respective versions without trading.

some people like dialga more than palkia and u can catch certain pokemon in pearl alone and certain pokemon in diamond alone but in the end u get the same thing when u start trading and stuff (i like palkia more)

Pearl: Has bonsly and suduwoodo and the lengendary pokemon palkia

Diamond: Has pokemon, mime jr., Mr. mime and the lengendary pokemon dialga
