  1. the cheapest way is to buy one color and buy enough for everyone to have at least 10 - 20 chips all equal to 1 a piece

you will just have man short games.

  2. if you want to get some cheap ones get a couple of sets from a dollar genreal store or a dollar store

  3. generaly when i play we give out $15,000 in chips nd we make whites $100 reds $500 blues $1000 and green are $5000 and to make 15k we give out 10 whites 4 reds  7 blues and 1 green and we have one of those silver cases so i suggest u buy one of those cuz they give u enough to play with a bunch of ppl or a lil amount of ppl

wow all u ppl complaining about the kid playin poker at 13 are ridiculous i play poker nd im 16 but ive been playin since i was 10 nd its not bad sure it may be illegal and addictive but u kno wat its fun nd as long as  u kno how to play and u have fun playing and u dont spend 2 much its fine so i say keep playin man enjoys urself just dont go broke nd learn how to play well cuz who knos maybe ull be the next chris money maker

  4. All depends on what kind of denominations you plan on having the chips be.  If you are playing real money games and u want to have chips be worth a penny a piece obviously you will need a lot of chips.  Figure out the simple math of how much everyone is buying in for or if you are simply going to run it tournament style which would give u an exact number of chips that you need and go from there.  You say u are 13?  You might as well cut up pieces of paper and use them as pennies my friend.  Way too young to get into the world of poker.  It's like a drug and very addictive.

Hey WAYFARO u do realize this kid is 13 years old right????  I'm sure he has no idea what the h**l you just said.  I say play freakin candyland or chutes and ladders little buddy.  Poker will swallow you and spit you back out real quick if u get involved too young.

  5. Gambling for real money is illegal for anyone under the age of 21yrs. Aren't their other games out there to playing at your age?  Stay away from games like poker..could lead to a real problem later.

  6. You can do it any way you want, depending on the game you want.  I'll give you a straight answer at the end, but sometimes I like to play quick shortstack games (especially heads up or with three people) where the big blind is two chips and everyone only gets sixteen or twenty chips.  If I want a single game to go on for hours, I make it Pot Limit instead of no limit, and make sure that everyone has 200x the big blind in front of them.

I think you need 500-600 chips, though you could get by with 300.  You need at least two colors--you should have the denomonations of the 'big' chip be 4-5 times what a small chip is.  You may also want an extra big chip that is 4-5 times the big chip if it is going to be a really long game.  (Play quarters and dollars, or dimes and fifty cent pieces, or dollars and fives, DO NOT play quarters and fifty cent pieces--it's pointless to have two denominations so close together.)

If you want a game with six people to have its first knockout after half an hour, and want it to last two hours or a little longer, play pot limit (maximum bet/raise is the amount that would be in the pot if you called), start with chip stacks that are about 100x the big blind, and raise the blinds every thirty minutes.

Since some people on this board seem to think that all 13 year olds are idiots, I have to say:  at that age I played bridge, pinochle, poker, spades, axis and allies (at 15), chess, and go at that age and often beat the adults I played against--so don't pretend that someone that age can't handle complex games.  And I'll give you the completely true disclaimer, in case you didn't know: don't gamble with money you can't afford to throw away, it takes years of practice to make anything at gambling, and many people fool themselves into thinking they can make money at it when they can't.  Also, some people get hooked and addicted to the thrills of betting on a chance, which can ruin your life (not to mention your poker skills), so if you see yourself acting badly or betting money you don't have, get away from the game and gambling all together--losers keep losing.
