  1. Deco is right.... Also i suggest you go to that new poker room in Cebu ( Cebu Players Club ) and observe the game.

  2. Well, I tend to agree with the other posts answering your question.  The basics of poker (hand values, how the cards are dealt, etc... ) are easy, but that ain't learning how to play poker.  If you want to lean poker, it is like learning anything else, the more you study, the more you learn.  However, you could read every book in the world and not get it until you sit down at the table and play.

There is so much to learn such as possition, hand strengths relative to possition, stratagies, etc...., you can pick that up from reading.  Learning to impliment them is another thing, the only way to learn that is through trial and error, like any good education, learning to play poker and being a long term winner (in poker it is always about the long term)  is expensive.  Like anything else in life, you learn from you mistakes, and believe me you will make them, the best players in the world make them.  The thing that seperates them from the others is that they know they made a mistake and learn, most do not. Good luck.

  3. ok.. its quite simple.. you get delt two cards.. you bet then you get three cards delt  out for every player in the centre of the table.. if you like what you see you can bet.. if not you can check (if everyone checks the next card is revlied) The person with the best hand wins.. E.g (Full house, Royal flush EXT.) Also cheak on google they will help you heaps

  4. lol theres no way anyone could ever explain that within a single post so that you'd understand

This link will help although the best way to learn is to get some experience, yahoo games and facebook have free poker games you can join.

Learn how to play with books and googling websites and practise using yahoo, facebook, and with your family if you get some poker chips.

I bought a small pack of poker chips whilst on holiday and a book on how to play 2years ago.

I now play professionally so you never know were it may lead.

Although I play more for the enjoyment than the money I'm having a poker night with my friends tonight.

Texas Holdem is the most popular type of poker.

Start by playing Limit as its easiar

Then progress to playing No limit as its harder but alot more fun

    Good luck

  5. this is the best way i can think of to explain how to play texas holdem. there is a dealer button and the first person left of the dealer button is the small blind, the next person is the big blind. the blinds are forced "bets" to make sure there is some money in the pot. the small blind (sb) is half the size of the big blind (bb). you are dealt 2 cards face down and then there is a round of betting. you have 3 choices to make 1) fold 2) call the bb, or 3) raise which the min raise is the size of the bb. say the blinds were 10 and 20, you have to call the 20 to stay in the hand. if you raise, you have to call the 20 and your raise has to be at least another 20. after the last raise and call, there is 3 community cards put out called the flop, now you can check or bet. if a bet is made, you can call, raise - which has to be a min of what the bet is, or fold, the next card is shown called the turn, another round of check, bet, or raise until all have called the lsat bet/raise, then the last card called the river. more check, bet, raise until everyone is in or out and then the cards are shown, usually starting with the one that made the last bet/raise. you then have a choice to show your cards or muck (fold) them - throw them away without showing them. the best 5 card hand wins the pot. the hand strength ranks from lowest to strongest are as follows

high card ( highest card in hand)

    pair

    2 pair

    3 of a kind

    straight (5 cards in order different suit 5 6 7 8 9)

    flush (any 5 cards of same suit A K 10 6 2)

    full house (3/kind + pair)

    4 of a kind

straight flush (same suit and in order)

    royal flush (same suit A K Q J 10)

  6. There is so much to explain. You get dealt two cards after which time you can bet. Then another three cards are dealt which is to none as the flop. At this point you can check, call, raise, fold or whatever. Then the turn card is dealt and the same process as before followed by the river card. If someone calls the other player then you both show your hand and the highest card wins. This is poorly explained but the site i just looked at described it much better.
