Poland beats Egypt by 3-1 in Pool H fixture: FIVB Volleyball Women’s Junior World Championship
The last day of the second round of the FIVB Volleyball Women’s Junior World Championship saw matches being held in Trujillo, Peru on Thursday, 28th July. The two teams that played a Pool H match with each other were Poland as well as Egypt.
The Polish side took four sets to hand out a defeat to the Egyptians in a match that was fairly one sided. Poland was dominant in all sets except the third one in which the Egyptians came to life and won after an intense struggle. The rest of the sets were
lost by the Egyptians with quite a margin that translated into a Polish win at the following final set scores:  25-14, 25-15, 23-25 and 25-15.
The coach of the Polish team, Grzegorz Kosatka gave the following statement at the press conference at the end of the match: “A lot of the players were extremely tired, fortunately we won this match, but not in the way we expected.”
The Egyptian Coach, Mohamed Ahmed, expressed himself in the following words: “Every game we play gives us more experience, including this. This competition was a warm up for winning in the next tournament in Turkey.”
The Polish side has been able to tally a total of five points in the second round of the tournament, whereas the Egyptian squad did not make a single win. The Polish team is in a tie position with the Serbians for second place in Pool H.
The start of the first set of the game saw the Egyptians take the lead early on but the Polish side did not let their opponents get too far ahead and equalised the score at 9-9. Once they had the lead with them, the Polish squad made sure that they stuck
with it until the very end. The win that Poland was able to accomplish at 25-14 had much to do with the height difference between the two teams.
The second set went well for the Polish from the start and they made a quick job of the competition. In only 20 minutes, the Egyptians had lost the second set of the game to the Polish at 15-25.
The Egyptians played the third set with all the energy that they could muster and it paid off as Poland lost the set at 23-25. However, the Polish team rebounded in the fourth set of the game to seal the deal on the match at 25-15.
The player that the top scorers on both teams was Poland's Ewa Sliwinska as she tallied 15 points in the entire match. On the other hand, the highest scorer on the Egyptian team was Yasmin Hussein, registering a total of 12 points.
