Zaksa defeats Trentino by 3-2: CEV Volleyball match recap
The CEV Men’s Volleyball Champions League saw Zaksa KEDZIERZYN-KOZLE belonging to Poland and Italian squad TRENTINO planetwin365 go head to head on December 14th as part of Pool C. The two teams put on a good show of volleyball in front of a crowd
of 2,000 people and took the match to five long and thrilling sets. After a challenging game Zaksa handed out a defeat to the Italian home team at the following final set scores: 25-23, 25-17, 23-25, 24-26 and 19-17.
The coach of the losing squad, Radostin Stoytchev, expressed himself in the following words after the match had reached its close: “We could not control some situations as we normally do and after two catastrophic sets we thought we had nothing more to lose,
so we were able to find back our best play and impose it.”
On the other hand, the winning team’s coach Krzysztof Stelmach expressed his jubilation in the following manner: “I am happy with this victory because TRENTINO is the best team in the world. We both showed great Volleyball tonight with great attacks and
powerful serving, aggressive play and spectacular defence.”
The first set of the match saw the Polish squad take the lead early on at 6-3. The home team tried to close in the gap but they did not succeed as Zaksa was able to extend their advantage to 10-6. Eventually, the TRENTINO squad was able to push themselves
forward and reach a tie. After this point it was only a matter of time before the Poles won the frame at 25-23.
The start of the second set happened on a good note for the Polish as they were able to get the lead at 7-0 by building on the confidence generated by winning the opening set. The relentless march of the Zaksa squad proved to be fatal for the Italians as
they fell one more time to their opponents at 25-17.
The loss of the first two sets of the game got the Italians going in the third set and they were able to rally themselves together to give some challenge to the Polish and secure a win at 25-23. The home team did not stop there and went on to secure the
fourth set as well at 26-24. However, it was the Polish squad that proved to be the better of the two as they bagged the fifth set at 19-17.
