Poland edges out Russia for 9th position: FIVB Junior World Championship - Volleyball
The final match for 9th position in the 2011 edition of the FIVB Women’s Junior World Championship was played between Poland and Russia. Poland proved to be the better team and posted a 3-1 (25-19, 25-19, 19-25, and 25-16) victory over their Russian
competitors.

15 points for her team and she was named third best scorer of the match.
The two European archrivals descended into the court with lots of plans. Match was a hot affair from the very beginning. Russians were quite active in throwing long jump-serves and they directed their shots in the gaps. However, they found a strong rival
in the form of Poland. Aleksandra Sikorska did a great job in putting Poland in lead. Russian tried to hinder their performance but slipped opening set of the match with 6 points.
Second set also came successful for Poland as they kept the same energy and momentum. Natalia Malykh of Russia scored well and created much trouble for Poles. Anyhow, the Russia slightly went down due to the reception errors. On contrary, Poland continued
with the same act and extended its lead to 2-0 by winning second set.
The loss of two consecutive sets was not pleasant experience for Russia. They covered their flaws in the third set and finally found their ways. They fought their way back in the game and pulled off success in third set. Alina Yaroshik, the captain of Russian
team hit the set points in third set.
Wit third-set victory, many of the audience thought that Russia was back in business but Poles had certainly planned something different for them. Polish team bounced back in the game in fourth set and came up with strong attack. The game full of tactics
allowed them to break the rhythm of Russians. They regained the better status and put an end to the tussle in fourth set. Russia couldn’t overcome the power of Poles and dropped the important 9th-position match.
