Poland loses Men’s doubles crown in the Yonex Polish International 2012 – Badminton Update
Poland lost a golden chance to claim the crown in the Yonex Polish International as their Men’s doubles pair Adam Cwalina-Michal Logosz knelt down against Vladimir Ivanov-Ivan Sozonov in the final match on March 25, 2012.
The World Number 21 pair Cwalina-Logosz, who overpowered Dutch pair Ruud Bosch-Koen Ridder in the semi-final, could not continue their successful run against the Russians and surrendered after just two games.
The World Number 22 couple Vladimir Ivanov-Ivan Sozonov were a class act throughout the 26-minute tussle and they ended the battle in their favour by registering significant margin of 21-11 and 21-13.
The judgment day completely belonged to the Russians as they dominated the battle right from the beginning and did not allow their rivals to rise from the dust.
The Champs, Vladimir and Ivan launched a swift attack straight away in the opening set and the Polish defence could not stop their invasion.
The top seeded duo of the event Cwalina-Logosz kept trailing behind their challengers on the score board and they lost the first match point with a decisive score of 11-21 in the opening game.
The second set was just a repeat show of the first one and the splendid chemistry of Vladimir-Ivan fetched the best for their country as they sealed the straight-set victory with score board flashing concluding margin of 21-13 in their favour.
The member of the losing team Michal Logosz believes their rivals were superior to them in all areas of game so he looked satisfied while standing second on the victory stand.
He said, “The Russians were just better than us today and really we had no real answers to their game. But overall I am happy with this silver.”
Logosz vowed to elevate their skills and pocket the best in the Finnish Open by applying their experience and brilliance in Finland as well.
He said, “We can go to Finland next week with confidence as this week was all about getting some match practise as we come back from an injury break.”
The Polish Men’s doubles experts are looking to register their mark after a short absence from the arena due to injury and it seems they have earned a great deal of confidence after this successful run in the home event.
Their next challenge, the Finnish Open will begin from March 29, 2012.
