Poland set for final defeating Austria 3-1 in semi-final of EuroHockey Nations Championship II
Poland national Men’s hockey team have qualified for the final of the EuroHockey Nations Championship II as they battered their Austrian counterparts by 3-1 in Men’s second semi-final played in Vinnitsa, Ukraine on Saturday, August 13.
The game was quite a close contest between the opponents where the Polish men dominated for most of the time in the entire match, especially in the second half in which they scored two goals while they made a single strike in the first thirty five minutes
whereas their opponents’ solitary goal was scored in the second part of the game. The Polish men remained disciplined in their defence as well as in attack throughout the entire course of time and this led them to the important match, the final of the event
where they will be up against the Czech Republic on Sunday, August 14.
The first half started with a sensational action by the Polish men as they opened their account just two minutes into the first thirty five minutes when Miroslaw Juszczak converted their first penalty corner in to the first goal. After that the match was
remained very tight as both the teams did not allow each other to do any damage in the remaining time of the first half. The Austrian men also tried very hard and displayed some good intervals of attacking hockey but they could not be able to run through the
Polish defence in the first half that eventually ended at 1-0 to Poland.
The second half exactly was the replica of the first one as the Polish athletes once again took the equal amount of time in doubling their lead as they took in the first half to open their account. They scored their second goal just two minutes into the
second half like the first one when Waldemar Rataj scored an amazing field goal in the 37th minute to further strengthen their lead.
However, the Austrians replied well in the 46th minute when Matthias Gero scored their first goal on a penalty corner and reduced the Polish lead to a single goal but the Polish men, on the other side, kept up their consistent pressure on the
Austrian defence and once again brought a beautiful goal midway in the second half. Miroslaw Juszczak ticked the scoreboard in the 55th minute to make it two for him and three for his team. The match was concluded at the similar score at 3-1 to
Poland as no more goals were scored later in the second half.
