However, Poland’s midfielder was unable to find the back of the net from his close range shot as the ball sailed wide of the target. In the 71st minute, Abidal became the second French player to get booked on the night

The match eventually came to a close after the three minutes of added time came to a conclusion. France scored early on in the first half thanks to an own goal but Poland had the better of the chances in the second half. The hosts
were continuously let down by their wayward finishing. Nonetheless, it was an exciting encounter which ended 1-0 in favour of the visiting team in the end.
